Cur love

Not equivocal

saving cur

I would imagine that one could label all those in pounds and humane societies as cur’s. I never thought of them that way and would have brought them all home if I could. Not cur but animals in need of love and a good home.

We rescued both our puppies:

Dazy

She is a blond lab that was housed at the Animal Control facility. They held her over a week past the two-week limit – an attempt to find her a home. (She had a shitty disposition; she would growl and wag her tail at the same time).  The deputies told me I had to make up my mind by Monday as that was her put down date. I brought hubby in over the weekend to meet her and we decided to take her home the following Monday.

That was 12 years ago. The vet thought she was three years old when we took her in to get fixed – she had already been spade. Sadly she is on the down hill slide of her life. It’s the part I hate about owning animals but I remember what a good life I provided for them and that they aren’t afraid of death. They only react to what we display. Given that, I am keeping my happy disposition, loving pats and caresses, spoiling gifts at an all time high for her.

Ralph

Ralph is a mix between Irish Wolfhound and Airedale. The Humane Society had him. He was apart of a program called “Paws and Claws” where they took the animals to the Juvenile Facility for the kids to socialize. Ralph barked from day one, all day and all night, non stop. One night I was headed to lunch and Ralph had gotten loose. He raced me down the boulevard. When I stopped to try to get him in the car, he jumped through my window. He was so kind, gentle and well-behaved. As it turned out he had been cured of heartworms. When the program was over, if they couldn’t find a home for him, they were going to put him down. We stepped in. He is probably the same age as Dazy, if not a little older.

With us always

When the day comes that they are ready to pass on, their place is reserved in our side yard along with all our other pets.
