Love Burnished

Today is an entry about love burnished. My fellow WordPress bloggers may remember the days when there were different groups you could join in WordPress to fine tune your blogging skills. There was “photography”, “Daily Word”, and several others. I believe they were created and maintained by fellow bloggers and, at times, possibly WordPress staff. Bear with me as I put everything together.

My husbands uncle is having heart surgery today. My hubby and I volunteered for driving and support for the process. Unc and auntie are in their late 70’s. We’ve been in the hospital all day, with staff talking about after hour procedures…. “are we going to be here past 9:00 pm?”

Support is love

It’s not the first time that we have volunteered for such events over the years. Hubby and I are both givers in that sense. In my opinion, our existence on this earth is for the purpose of helping each other. We should put a serious effort into being supportive and showing love to our fellow man. What harm can come from extending comfort until the unknown becomes known? It all boils down to love burnished.

It wasn’t always like that for me. However, the more I open my heart to love, the more I begin to take notice of the good in this world. No more focusing on the bad or thinking in negative terms. I greeted hope and turned faith lose!!

Boundaries is love

Setting and defining the parameters of a relationship is reinforcing the value, and thereby love, of that relationship. However awkward or unpleasant, we cannot achieve respect and appreciation for one another without boundaries. Is it not support of strength for those who are weak and compassion for the abandoned? It may be recognizing value for and contributing worth to the poor.

It may even be a reality check. Truths exposed. Withdrawal of support, even, as in funds. Is it not the honing, refining, polishing and intentional act of love?

The act of love

Which brings me full circle to the beginning. In the good ole days I could lend support or example my love in the form of a blog. Through avenues of a “Daily Word” challenge or sharing of a photography skill, a person could expose themselves and relate to the boundaries of others. In absence of that I subscribed to a daily word news letter, and you guessed it, the word today was “burnished”.

It was fun to form this post around such a word: burnish. Thank you for hanging in there with me. The greatest commandment is love…..
