Trying something new today

I’m trying something new; picking up groceries. Many people have told me what a great deal it is. So convenient, saves money and delivery? Even better! In order to put this service to the best test I ordered ICE CREAM, MILK AND DELI MEAT. My husband thought it risky but they’re not going to try to give you melted ice cream are they? (I’ll finish that evaluation when I get back and post this).

Right away one thing that may not be for some people is that you have to order a day ahead. In order to pick up my order today I had to order yesterday. However, you can order up to a certain point at night, picking up the next day; which seems a bit more do-able.

Something new in the details.

I ordered from Walmart. It was a bit confusing that in the checkout process I could have reserved a time slot by paying and extra amount (Pick-up times adjusted the amount). When I declined to do that, the next step was choosing a time I wanted my order ready. The times were the same as the previous choices without the extra charge. Not really getting the notion of paying for a time slot.

The convenience factor is there. Everything was able to be ordered. I did receive an email this morning stating that the bread I wanted was out and not replaced with anything. When beginning the check out process I selected “no substitutions”. I heard that they notify you ahead of the substitutions if you chose that option. At that point you can accept or decline the substitution.

Details to hurdle

If you are like me and like to get the freshest dated milk, salad, etc. Then this might draw you out of your comfort zone. I like to make sure that the bread is soft, too.

I take the dog everywhere I go. On hot days I speedily shop for groceries while the car is running with the air on. The convenience of this service may make that a thing of the past. I thought about delivery. When I attempted to go that route the site said delivery was not available in my area. Like any service this would require tipping. Do you tip curb side pick-up?

Something new on the way

I just received a text that part of my order is ready for pick-up… I have to say, I just made a record trip to town! Walmart sent email at 9:48am, I notified them I was leaving or “check in” at 10:00am. When I arrived I let them know what space I was in (10:20am) and the lady came right out with everything.

She was very pleasant and let me know there was a “no tip” policy and recommended my filling out the survey that will be included in the confirmation email. All in all a great experience and I was home before Blue Bloods started their all day marathon at 11:00am!

Something new is now something old

Now that I have taken the plunge I will be a regular participant of grocery pick-up. One by one I am going to hit up all the stores that offer this service! The amount of time it frees up is well worth it.

Yes, the ice cream was frozen, the milk and deli meat as if it was just removed from the cooler!
