week two of retirement

Written by lam0beaner

2nd week

I don’t believe it has hit me yet. While I know that I’m retired, it still feels like a vacation. It’s a curious thing. I hope it doesn’t hit me like a ton of bricks. Its week two of retirement

Last week was busy. I had a dentist and doctor appointment, took boy kitty in for neutering. Picked tomatoes at my mom and sister’s house. This week looks as busy as last week. Tomorrow I will spend most of my time cleaning the kitchen, again. It’s even more of a disaster than when I cleaned it last time.

The pond

The pond is at a standstill due to equipment failure. However, I believe it will be completed in its own time and will be everything we want. Patience is a virtue. I feel sorry for the guy because the equipment he is having trouble with belongs to a partner. The partner should be here helping with his equipment. We have lent a hand and hubby will help the guy as much as he can.

Sealed jars

Well, out of 44 jars of salsa only five did not seal. We diffidently had better luck this time. Now it’s just a matter of cleaning up afterwards. I have plenty to do today so am cutting this short.

Happy Monday, everyone! Make those four jars, another one just sealed!

  • It’s another whole world, isn’t it? I’m starting to find the groove (now, just under 4 months in) & I gotta say: I’m digging it!

    • Thank you, Ron for commenting. I have to say I’m thouroughly enjoying it. I’m thinking about getting a part-time job to make a few extra dollars, but nothing that will be like work 😜

  • It seems like just last week I retired from a career in teaching art and photography. It’s actually been 10 years and I can’t believe how time has flown. I took an early retirement (because I could, lucky me) and then threw myself into what I love best – photography. It’s hard to think of myself as being retired but I enjoy being able to do the things I want to do when I want to do them. I still don’t think of myself as being “retired.” Retired from what?? It’s more of evolving into another lifestyle – go to bed when you want, get up when you want, stay home all day if you want, go on photoshoots. Clean and keep house, cook, shop. Some things never stop. I guess the bottom line is, you have a choice now. A new lifestyle opens other doors for you that you never thought of before. Life takes on new meaning. You aren’t just looking forward to the weekend all the time. It’s all one BIG weekend!
So enjoy the new road you are going down, explore things, learn things and love above all.

Hope your boy kitty is doing ok too.

    • Thank you, Dolores, for taking the time to read and comment my blog. I know exactly what you mean. I am excited to find out which doors will open. I enjoy my free time but am seeking more funds to help with the things we need or want before my hubby retires in two years. Due to that, I hope to have a job after Tuesday’s interview. I appreciate your well wishes, for me and the kitten! Best to you and yours!

      With love,
