You know when your mind fails you?

And you can’t remember shit? Well, I’m there in spades right now. I guess it just keeps going downhill from here, since our brains shrink as we age, or so they say. From what I have gathered since turning 60, (I am now 62), there is some validity to that. You know when you name everyone in your list of contacts before reaching the one person’s name you are referring to?

For example, I wrote a post last Sunday and thought I published it. But there it was sitting on my free account, waiting, today. And by the way, It’s Friday already? Where did Monday and Tuesday go?! I know I was a part of Wednesday because I remember it for the bad day it was.

You know when…

You practice having the patience of Job only to find things heaping up and robbing you of your most valiant effort. On Wednesday we lost power due to a storm. Because of that, our WiFi stopped working and I discovered two of my devices were having cellular issues. Upon calling Verizon my tablet was drained of charge before they could help me.

When connecting the tablet, it would not take a charge. So that means a trip to the Apple store for repair. Luckily Apple scheduling was able to get me in on Thursday.

when the doors opened

My 10:30 a.m. appointment turned into a 10:00 am (when the store opened) by me being anxious to get the just of what was wrong with my tablet. As a kind soul named “Joe” was diagnosing my tablet he suggested that I pass the time with another associate who was demonstrating Apple’s latest product, the Vision Pro.

Apple is breaking into the market that Facebook created with their Meta Quest. While Meta Quest stays under $1000, Apple is looking to get $3500 out of their Vision Pro. I looked into when Meta Quest when it first came out but wasn’t feeling the price tag which was around $500 back then.

You know when

If you’ve ever been in a virtual ride, you know when you’re in it that it feels like the real thing. My sister, mom and I went to Vegas together and ended up on a “Dune buggy” ride. When we walked out of there our mother said she could “smell the dirt!” It was impressive to say the least.

Trying out the Vision Pro leaves your senses stimulated the same way. The virtual reality with the Vision Pro is no doubt impressive. The computer capabilities, “spatial videos”, and even just the photos, all come with a depth of grandeur.

No glasses needed with the Vision Pro! You can enter your prescription into the device. It is a bit weighty, seemingly pulling you forward a bit. Fatigue could set in with this and for that reason (besides the price tag) I’ll wait until they develop a lighter version.

I want one.

I do want one. The possibilities it holds for me are endless. You feel the loss of the euphoric nature of it when removing the headset. Some articles suggest that the Vision Pro is selling less impressively here than across the pond. Possibly why they are demonstrating it in a hands-on way to consumers. I am glad they did. The experience definitely made the wait on my tablet seems shorter.

While sitting through the demonstration, they emailed me an invitation to extend to others. My guest will be my husband. I know he will enjoy it. The Apple store employee said multiple trips were anticipated.

You know when

you expect a hefty price tag and are surprised with a lower bill. My tablet needed a new charging cord and block. All is well for $55. The Vision Pro made spending Apple retail worth it.
